I’m a qualified secondary Maths teacher and have spent more than a decade teaching A-Level classes. Over the years I’ve become particularly interested in exam technique and the small differences between understanding a topic and being able to score reliably on it. I use past papers throughout the year rather than saving them for revision season. Statistics is a speciality of mine, especially hypothesis testing and probability.

Maths was the subject I enjoyed most at school, although I remember finding integration pretty mysterious when I first met it! I’ve now tutored A-Level Maths for four years and like working with students who need a bit more time to untangle difficult topics. Lessons are fairly relaxed, but we do lots of questions. I often ask students to talk me through their working because it quickly shows whether a mistake is mathematical or just exam technique.

I have eight years’ experience teaching A-Level Maths, including students aiming for the highest grades as well as those trying to secure a solid pass. Algebra and calculus form a large part of my teaching because weaknesses there tend to appear everywhere else in the course. I usually set a handful of carefully chosen questions between sessions rather than long worksheets, then use the mistakes we find to decide what needs attention next.
